Madras

I miss Madras. I miss my home. I miss all those things I used to take for granted. The sound of the bird going 'cooo' every morning; the sounds of the crows; the 'meaaan.. meeaann meeaanneeyy' when the fish-seller cycles by; the 'paaaaypaar potti paal kavarr' when the madras version of a recycle bin cycles by; the sounds of 'kausalya supraja rama poorva' playing somewhere in the distance; the sizzling of dosais being made at home; a whiff of dosais and freshly ground thengai chutney; mingled with the flavor filter coffee('Bhesh bhesh romba nallairukku'); the blaring of the horns en route to work- a melee of sounds from the trink trink of the cycles to the loud bellowing of the lorries(ofcourse interspersed with a few verbal abuses flying from one end to another); the autos; hordes of people everywhere; the beach with its 'thenga maanga pattani sundal'...... I could go on.. I miss it all.
