Dyslexia

What do Salma Hayek, Tom Cruise, Gwen Stefani, George Washington, Ted Turner, Whoopi Goldberg and a whole lot of other people(complete list) have in common? Dyslexia [unfortunately, blogspot ruined my punch question by dislaying the title above the post!]One in every ten people you meet are dyslexic. The word dyslexia means learning disorder. Dyslexics are characterised by lack of rote skills, inability to read/write at par with the rest, difficulty in concentrating. I'm sure all you have to do is type the word on google and you'll get most of the characteristics of dyslexics, their disabilities and all about how to cope with it. Which brings me to why I'm writing this post in the first place.Recently I've heard of more dyslexic children than before and I believe that our increasingly competitive lifestyles and accelerated pace are but a few reasons contributing to this rise.
So slow down! Take a look around! Why are we pushing ourselves further than necessary ? Children detained in second and third grade/standard because they are 'unable to cope with the syllabus'!?? Give me a break.. school isnt about coping with syllabi. I dont think I even knew what syllabus meant when I was in school.
